VETERAN SERVICES INFORMATION
You served your Country well, now let us serve you! As a veteran, you receive priority service in all New York State Career Centers. We have Veterans Employment Representatives, who are veterans themselves, specifically trained to assist you in transitioning from the military, finding a new job, or starting a new career! Some of the services we provide include:

- Information on Federal, State and Local Civil Service opportunities

TRADE ACT
Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) helps trade-affected workers who have lost their jobs as a result of increased imports or shifts in production out of the United States. TAA benefits and services are provided to help eligible workers get back to work. Workers who are certified adversely affected by foreign trade must apply for individual services and benefits through their local career center to determine individual eligibility for reemployment services and benefits.
Affected workers may receive one or more of the following Reemployment Trade Act Services at the career centers:
- Job Search Registration Employment Counseling
- Case Assessment Job Development
- Supportive Services
- Self-Directed Job Search Services
- Job Search Allowances
- Relocation Allowance
- Basic or remedial education, classroom training OR employer-based training

Training & Education Information
Have you thought about going back to school to start a new career? Please come in and talk with one of our career counselors to discuss a new career path today. Funds may be available to individuals for classroom/occupational skills training, or On-the-Job Training. To receive funding, the training you take must be completed in two years or less and can take place at traditional colleges or vocational schools. Areas of study include, but are not limited to: Licensed Practical Nursing, Medical Transcription, Medical and Dental Assisting, Security Guard Training, CDL-A Truck Driving, Computer Applications and Computer Networking.

Apprenticeships
The process of learning a skilled occupation through both on-the-job training (practical, paid experience) and learning the related technical knowledge in a classroom. Call your local career center to find out more.

Financial Aid
Financial Aid assistance may be available for the program of study you are interested in. Please contact an Employment Counselor at one of our three career centers for additional information. Also you may reach out to the Financial Aid office at the School you are looking to attend.

On-the-Job Training
A program that places individuals with local employers where they receive training while earning a paycheck. We are currently looking for businesses who would like to be considered as a worksite as funds become available. Participating employers are eligible for up to 50% reimbursement for wages paid to a trainee during the training period. For more information contact your local Career Center.
Online Skills Learning
Interested in NO COST online learning? Through partnership with Metrix Learning, SkillUp® Capital Region is helping Albany, Schenectady, and Rensselaer County residents access free online training courses! Take full advantage of the 7000+ courses in the Metrix Learning catalog – training courses are available in IT skills, construction, customer service, digital literacy and many more.
